We’ve all heard it at some time or another. You shoot the job, send it to the lab and then you get the dreaded call from Customer Service or the editor. “There’s a few kids that are soft focus and off-center” we tell you. “Well, how bad is it?” you ask. “Is it acceptable?” These are difficult things for us to answer since we see it as either “sharp” or “not sharp”, “centered” or “off center”. Everyone has their own idea as to what is “Acceptable”. So, to make it easier to answer that question next time, we’ve designed a scale that allows you to tell us whether it’s acceptable or not. If you ever get that call again.... And of course, that rarely happens to you... We’ll ask you to open your catalog to this page, tell you where we see the image on this scale, and let you make the decision for yourself.
