The History Of Excel Photo

 

LOOKING BACK . . . FOR A VISION OF THE FUTURE

 

In May of 1986, Excel Photo opened its doors for business. Our first location, all 7,500 sq. ft., seemed huge. At the time, we wondered how we would ever fill up all that space. Starting with a common belief, each of us felt that a strong commitment to quality and service would earn Excel Photo a strong niche in the competitive, professional photo lab marketplace.

That was 1986. There were only eight of us on staff with four customers! It took a lot of team work to get through that first season, but everything went well. We succeeded in delivering quality products on schedule with just one Lucht package printer and a couple of Kodak-S printers. It wasn't long before we began to prove to ourselves, and our competition, that Excel Photo was in business for the long haul.

Three of the original eight staff members are still with the company. The original four customers have either stayed with us through thick and thin, or have retired. Since that time, our full-time staff has grown to 30 employees and our active account base is 60 customers throughout the continental United States and Hawaii.

In the summer of 1997, we moved to our current location. This allowed us to grow in size and provide opportunities for new product lines. The lab has undergone many changes over the years. With the rapid advancements made in digital photography, the changing technology has required new equipment for the lab -- five Noritsu QSS- 34Pro printer/processors, one Noritsu R2R-1400 printer, an Epson poster printer and
a Xerox X700 color printer. This equipment introduced new processes and provides additional business opportunities for the lab. It now seems that our mutual beliefs proved true.

We have remained committed to that same quality and service that brought us together in the beginning. As in 1986, when we first opened the doors, we look to the future and a continued strong presence in the marketplace. With your help, we feel confident that we will continue to grow together.
