The History Of Excel Photo

 

LOOKING BACK . . . FOR A VISION OF THE FUTURE

 

In May of 1986, Excel Photo opened its doors for business. Our first location, all 7,500 sq. ft., seemed huge. Comments made at the time wondered how we would ever fill up all that space. Starting with a common belief, each of us felt that a strong commitment to quality and service would earn Excel Photo a strong niche in the competitive, professional photo lab marketplace.

 

That was 1986. There were only eight of us on staff with four customers! It took a lot of team work to get through that first season, but everything went well. We succeeded in delivering quality products on schedule with just one Lucht package printer and a couple of Kodak-S printers. It wasn’t long before we began to prove to ourselves, and our competition, that Excel Photo was in business for the long haul.

 

Four of the original eight staff members are still with the company. The original four customers have stayed with us through thick and thin. Since that time, our full-time staff has grown to 40 employees and our active account base is 85 customers throughout the continental United States and Hawaii.

 

In Summer of 1997, we moved to our current location. This allowed us to grow in size and provide opportunities for new product lines. The lab has undergone many changes over the years. The original Lucht package printer was expanded to a total of three, along with four Lucht Sport Pak printers. With advancements made in digital photography, this technology has required new equipment for the lab -- two Mileca HSP printers, one Noritsu R2R-1400 printer, five Noritsu QSS-34Pro printer/processors, an Epson poster printer and a Xerox DCP 700 color printer. This equipment introduced new processes and provides additional business opportunities for the lab. It now seems that our mutual beliefs proved true.

 

We still hold that same commitment to quality and service that brought us together in the beginning. As in 1986 when we first opened the doors, we look to the future and a continued strong presence in the marketplace. With your help, we feel confident that we will continue to grow together.
